Minutes of a meeting of the Llangunnor Parish Council held at Login Schoolroom on Monday evening the 14th January 1974 at 7.30pm

113. ApologiesApologies for absence were received from Mrs SJ Edwards, Mr Dd James, County Councillor ET Davies and District Councillor EJ Thomas
114. MinutesThe Minutes of a meeting of the Council held on the 20th December 1973 were read verified as correct and signed by the Chairman.
115. Road SafetyIn reply to the request made by the Parish Council a letter from the Area Surveyor of the Carmarthenshire County Council indicated that signs ‘Residential Area – Drive Carefully’ were not authorised but he agreed to place appropriate signs near the entrance to the playing field
It was mentioned that signs of the type requested were to be found on certain estates in the town and the Clerk was directed to enquire which Authority had erected them
116. Establishment of New Sub-Post Office ar 31 Brynmeurig (Reference Min No. 108)A letter was received from the Assistant Head Postmaster Carmarthen agreeing not to remove the existing letter box at Tregynnwr but to place an additional box on the forecourt of the Sub-Post Office to be established at No.31 Brynmeurig
117. House Refuse CollectionAn invitation was received from the Carmarthen Rural District Council to submit details of routes within the Parish were refuse was not being currently collected but where the service was considered necessary. It was agreed to submit the following routes. 1. Bwlchymynydd – Bronhaul Road 2. Roman Road Pensarn As well as the individual properties of Tyhir and Gellygoedgain. It was also agreed that enquiries be made as to whether a paper collection service could be reintroduced, particularly to cater for the large quantities of paper sacks available at farms
118. Estimates 1975/75In response to the letter received from the Action Director of Finance, Carmarthen District Council, it was resolved to inform him that the estimated expenditure for the year 1974/75 was likely to be in the region of £5,000
119. CircularsThe contents of Circulars relation to ‘The independence of Local Councils’ and ‘Chairman’s Allowance’ were noted
120. Footway LightingMr DP Jones complained of the poor lighting at the lower end of ‘Y Talar’, Tregynnwr in the vicinity of Nos 1-5. It was agreed that a quotation be sought from the South Wales Electricity Board for the provision of a lighting unit at this location.
121. Abandoned CarsIt was reported that abandoned cars were still to be found behind Rhoslas, Tregynnwr and it was agreed that the attention of the Carmarthen Rural District Council be drawn to the complaint again.
122. Parking of Heavy Lorries – TregynnwrThe Clerk was directed to draw the attention of the Carmarthen Rural District Council to the number of heavy vehicles being parked in the Bron-y-dre area, Tregynnwr and to emphasise the disturbance caused by these vehicles, particularly to the older residents, late at night and early in the morning.
123. FloodingMrs E Jones complained of the flooding on the road leading to Maesyrynn, Nantycaws and it was decided that the complaint be forwarded to the Ara Surveyor of the County Council
Mrs B Morgan also complained that surface water from the playing field area was causing a nuisance to the occupants of No.56 Brynmeurig, and it was agreed that the attention of the Carmarthen Rural District Council be drawn to it.
