First World War Centenary 1918

The 11th November 2018 marks the centenary of the end of the First World War, the ceasefire was effective from 11am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Llangunnor does not have a memorial which lists the names of those men who fought and died for this country, so we decided as part of the commemoration of the anniversary that we would look to identify those men and record their names and make this information available to all, the original idea was to place some framed list at the local church but its not easy to just put something up on a wall inside a church.

As a mark of respect to those men from Llangunnor who did not come back we have prepared a short presentation so that they will never be forgotten.

" We can truly say that the whole circuit of the earth is girdled with the graves of our dead... I have many times asked myself whether there can be more potent advocates of peace upon earth through the years to come, than this massed multitude of silent witness to the desolation of war" King George V, 1922
