About

"Light Up Llangunnor / Goleuo Llangynnwr" was started in 2020 with that aim of spreading some Christmas cheer throughout the community. We had not been able to arrange any sort of Community Christmas party due to restrictions and rules on social distancing but thought it was important to do something. We did spend some time considering what we could do that would get the community together, without them having to actually come together. The whole point of "Light Up Llangunnor / Goleuo Llangynnwr" is to spread some Christmas cheer thoughtout the community not setting neighbour against neighbour to see who can spend the most or have the biggest display of lights so if you want to light up the outside of your house or just put a small decoration in the window feel free to share with all, you could simply post a photo of your Christmas tree 🎄

Llangunnor will still have its two Christmas trees (Nantycaws and Pensarn) along with some additional festive lights in the Pensarn area as provided by the community council but the switch-on will have to be more low key than previous events. Llangunnor Network does not want that to dampen down the Christmas spirit, as someone once said is the most wonderful time of the year and from past experience we know many properties in Llangunnor will be getting the Christmas lights up and on. So lets all showcase the festive spirit we have in Llangunnor by posting your festive decorations and lights

We have set up a Facebook group which can be found at Light Up Llangunnor and if you could please use the #lightupllangunnor or #goleuollangynnwr hashtag to help promote "Light Up Llangunnor / Goleuo Llangynnwr" to residents and to the world

Safety

The whole point is to spread some Christmas cheer around the community, stay safe and follow any Government restrictions that maybe in place.

🎁 Christmas Free Prize Draw 2020 only🎁

We made the decision early in the planning stages not to not operate "Light Up Llangunnor / Goleuo Llangynnwr" as a competition, how could we judge anyone a winner! So as we could not organise any sort of party we held a free Christmas Prize Draw - this was open to all members of the Light Up Llangunnor Facebook group - each member will be allocated a number and a random draw will take place with those selected getting a gift.

🌟 All the prizes had been funded and supplied by Llangunnor Network, it has been a difficult period for all so we were not going to go and ask businesses for donations - so we are pleased to have supported them by sourcing our prizes locally 🌟

  • Heroes
  • Roses
  • Biscuits
  • Chocolate bar
We will also be looking at ways to target those not on social media

Rules

The dreaded rules, anyone and everyone from all over the world is free to join the "Light Up Llangunnor" group so only fair that we set a few rules regarding any prizes

  • Each member will only have the opportunity to be selected once, if they are allocated a prize from the draw they will not be included in any further draws which may take place (to ensure that as many as possible have the chance to win)
  • A list of all winners will be published online and on Light Up Llangunnor Facebook group
  • Winners will need to contact the organiser to arrange delivery/collection of their prize
  • No prizes will be posted and delivery will only be within the Carmarthen area
  • As members of the Facebook group can be any age, if a minor is allocated a prize in the draw they will need to ensure that a parent or guardian is aware and present at delivery/collection - NO ALCOHOLIC PRIZE WILL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18
  • Any unclaimed prizes will held for a period of time
  • Prizes remain the property of Llangunnor Network until claimed/delivered/collected
