Minutes of Monthly Meeting of Llangunnor Community Council held in Babell Zion Chapel and virtually via Zoom on Tuesday 20th January 2026 at 19:00pm
PRESENT: Councillor Elwyn Williams (Chair), Graham Slate, Lee Whatley and Geraint Bevan

249. MinutesThe minutes of the Monthly meeting of Council held on 16th December 2025 was APPROVED. Councillor Whatley abstained

Request from trader for the use of the park area – Goggi’s Cuisine (Deferred from October 2025)ACTION Clerk to respond – Offer attendance once per month, 6pm – 8pm, not to clash with previously approved vendor (Simons Pizzas). No charge to be made but emphasis placed on their responsibility to leave the site clean. Cllr Slate will attend to lighting. AGREED

Community Engagement Hour – create opportunity for an hour’s engagement, litter picking, painting, planting (Deferred from October 2025)Discussed – bringing the community together in small groups to undertake worthwhile activities; a sociable event with possible refreshments, best started in the Spring. Potential to take over the care of the planters at the park entrance. Could be one off or regular event, depending on response. Would need one or two Councillors present to facilitate. Would need good promotion via posters and social media. AGREED to take the idea forward. ACTION Add to agenda for next meeting to discuss further details
252. To approve contracted SLCC Clerks trainingApproval was sought by the Clerk for Council to approve two online courses provided by the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) both courses being ten hours and at a cost of £140 + VAT each. (ILCA and FILCA) as detailed in her contract of employment. This was AGREED
253. Approve the Schedule of AccountsMonthly Financial Report and schedule of payments for January 2026 APPROVED - ACTION Clerk to ask handyman to ensure dates attended are included on future invoices

256. Correspondence: Comcen - Quotation for email services for approvalA quotation for email services had been received for 10 accounts at £65 each (£650) plus £130 VAT. approval APPROVED - ACTION Add to agenda for October to discuss price and service comparisons to ensure best value for money.

b. School Governors: Councillor Joan Evans advised that the next meeting was 4th February. Cllr Evans has sent apologies, Cllr E Williams will attend

Reported on education overspend in Carmarthenshire. It was noted that Llangunnor School is within budget

• Cllr L. Whatley –
- Eileen Jones has raised £720 for Prostate Cymru by knitting snowmen.
- Noted the new bench near Towy Roundabout presumably replaced by Carmarthenshire County Council. Query, had the Community Council been informed of proposed work
• Toilet still locked due to inclement weather. No complaints received from residents.
- Despite gritting of road, a car slid into railings at the park. ACTION Clerk to ensure County Council are aware and thank them for topping up grit bins.Defer discussion about toilet placement until toilet has re-opened.

Apologies for arriving late. Court case for former Clerk (H Davies) concluded ACTION Clerk contact police with a view to getting Community Council phone and computer returned
- Bro Myrddin Secondary School named 6th best in Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026 ACTION Clerk to write a letter of congratulations to the school.
